Jack Strider is wide awake before the phone completes its first ring. It’s 6am or a second or so after. It can’t be urgent. Urgent calls are random – 6:17, 2:38 or 4:41. No, this is someone who’s been waiting for a “decent” time to call, with decent being relative to the importance the caller places on the call and how long they’ve been looking at the clock and waiting for it to tick over to a proper hour.
“We’ve really fucked it up now, Comrade.”
